Can a digital wedding invitation be in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu or another Indian language?
Yes. A digital invitation can be written in any language a phone can display, and the choice is usually the language the family’s elders read. On Momen9 an invitation can be in English, Hinglish, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Odia and Urdu, set in a typeface made for that script, with a personal note to each guest in whichever language that guest reads.

Which language to choose
- Write the invitation in the language the elders of the family read. They are the ones who read every word of it.
- If the two families read different languages, choose the language of the wedding ceremony for the invitation and write the personal notes in each guest’s own.
- Friends and colleagues who do not read the script still need the date, the time and the venue. Dates, times and map links are read the same in every language.
- Hinglish, Hindi written in the Latin alphabet, is how many families already write to each other on WhatsApp, and it is a fair choice for an informal function.
Why the typeface matters
Indian scripts join letters into conjuncts and place vowel signs above, below and beside them. A typeface that was not designed for the script draws these badly or not at all, and the result is an invitation in which the names of the couple are misspelt to anyone who can read them. An invitation in Tamil needs a Tamil face; one in Urdu needs a Nastaliq face and text that runs right to left.
How Momen9 does it
- You choose the invitation’s language when you set up the celebration: English, Hinglish, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Odia and Urdu.
- The invitation is set in a typeface made for that script.
- If you use the AI to draft the invitation, it drafts in the language you chose.
- The personal note you write to a guest can be in any language, whatever the invitation’s own.
- The regional wedding templates carry each tradition’s ceremonies by their own names.
Questions people ask next
- Can the invitation be in two languages at once?
- An invitation has one language, which decides its typeface and what the AI drafts in. Anything you type yourself can be in any language, so a line in a second language can be added wherever you want one, and each guest’s personal note can be in their own.
- Will a Tamil or Telugu invitation display correctly on every phone?
- Yes. The typeface for the script is delivered with the invitation page, so it does not depend on which fonts the guest’s phone has.
